The Interdisciplinary Center for Aristotelian Studies, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is proud of the successful presentation of the round table “Aristotelian ‘Paideia’ and Global Educational Challenges: Revisiting the Past to Plan for Sustainable Education in the 21st-Century,” in the context of the “Aristotle Innovation Forum” of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Tuesday, May 19, 2026). The Round Table aimed to highlight the essential role of the humanities in addressing global challenges in the field of education today, through the connection of Aristotelian ideas about education with theoretical and empirically documented principles from modern educational psychology on what constitutes “sustainable education.”
The round table, is part of a broader research program, funded by the partnership of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) – USA and the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI), with the following partners: From the the USA, Professor of Philosophy Chelsea Harry, Project Director & Demetra Sfendoni-Mentzou, Professor of Philosophy of Science, President of the Interdisciplinary Centre of Aristotle Studies, Co-Project Director/Consultant, and from Greece, Professor Eleftheria Gonida Professor of Εducational and Developmental Psychology, Project Director, with members the Doctors of Philosophy Christos Pechlivanidis and Dimitra Balla.
