Dear colleagues and friends,
I feel deep joy and pride as the founder and President of the Interdisciplinary Center for Aristotelian Studies (DIKAM), at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, because this year we celebrate DIKAM’s 15th anniversary while also participating in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), which bears the name of Aristotle; the universal philosopher who has influenced European and Western civilization more than anyone else over twenty-four centuries.
At a press conference on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in the Senate Hall, we presented a brief overview of DIKAM’s work and the new international collaborations that continue its dynamic trajectory.
We are delighted, that the Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with its tireless efforts, and without any regular funding, has succeeded, in its fifteen years of operation, to give a significant impetus to the study of Aristotle’s legacy, by bringing to the forefront the interdisciplinary nature of Aristotle’s work, the close connection between the philosophical and scientific part of his legacy, and the relevance of Aristotle today. These features make it innovative and unique in its kind.
We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to making our vision for Aristotle a reality.
With kind regards,
Demetra Sfendoni-Mentzou
Founder and President of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies, A.U.Th.
