The “Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies” (DI.K.A.M.), of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, was honored by the visit of the former President of the Hellenic Republic, Member of the Academy of Athens, and Honorary Professor of the School of Law of Athens, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, before the Opening Ceremony of the International Conference “Aristotle-Confucius Symposium on Ethics for the 21st Century,” the Thessaloniki section. The Conference was organized, on July 3-8, 2023, by the Academy of Athens, the “United Nations Sustainable Solutions Network” (SDSN), the China Confucius Foundation, and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies, AUTh. The first section of the Conference (3-5 July) was hosted at the Academy of Athens, and the second section (6-8 July) was held at the AUTh-in ancient Stageira and ancient Mieza.
Noteworthy is the fact, that the President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopios Pavlopoulos, right from the beginning of his Presidency, made twice (on June 8, 2015, and June 4, 2019) the exceptional honor of receiving at the Presidential Mansion the President of the “Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies,” Demetra Sfendoni-Mentzou, and the members of the Board. He then placed under his auspices the World Congress “Aristotle 2400 Years,” which was organized in 2016 by DI.K.A.M., and addressed the Opening Ceremony. During his Presidency, he also attended and participated in a memorable event at the emblematic Acropolis Museum, on December 18, 2019, on the occasion of the publication of the two Aristotle volumes, which were the outcome of the Congress. Recently, in his capacity as former President of the Hellenic Republic and Member of the Academy of Athens, Academician Prokopios Pavlopoulos, honored DI.K.A.M. once again, by participating as a Key-note speaker at the International Conference “Aristotle-Confucius Symposium on Ethics for the 21st Century,” proving once again his deep knowledge of Aristotle’s work, as well as his appreciation of the successful work made by DI.K.A.M. and its President, Demetra Sfendoni-Mentzou, for the study and promotion worldwide of the universal philosopher Aristotle, a central pillar of our cultural heritage.
