On Thursday, May 11, 2023, Demetra Sfendoni-Mentzou, was officially received to the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften, ÖAW), at a Festive event for the newly elected members of the Academy (founded in 1847).
The President of the Academy Heinz Faßmann presented the newly elected members and awarded their diplomas. On Friday, May 12, 2023, at this year’s Ceremonial Session, the newly elected members were introduced to the class.
Demetra Sfendoni-Mentzou, Professor Emerita of Philosophy of Science, the founder and President of Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies, A.U.Th. (DI.K.A.M.), has been elected on March 2023 as a Corresponding Member Abroad of ÖAW in the class of “Humanities and Social Sciences” (https://www.oeaw.ac.at/en/m/sfendoni-mentzou-demetra). Her election was based on her international academic achievement and academic reputation in the field of philosophy of science and primarily in the field of the study and promotion of Aristotle’s work through an interdisciplinary approach.
