You can watch the video of the inaugural ceremony of the “Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies”, A.U.TH.
The purpose of the “Interdisciplinary Center for Aristotle Studies” is to study Aristotle’s work from an interdisciplinary point of view in areas covering the traditional branches of Philosophy, such as Logic, Metaphysics, Politics, Ethics, Rhetoric, as well as all areas related to Humanities, Law and Political Science, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Health Sciences and even Technology. In this respect the Centre has an innovative character, which makes it unique not only in Greece, but also on an international scale.
It is our ambition that the “Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies” becomes a pole of attraction and a point of reference for all Aristotle scholars worldwide, as well as for students of Aristotle’s philosophy. And this is, because it has the unique privilege of operating in the country where Aristotle was born, and more specifically at Aristotle University that bears his name and is located a breath’s distance away from Stageira, the birthplace of the Macedonian philosopher and from Mieza, the place of his teachings with Alexander as his student.
Finally, the goal of the Centre is to shed light on the timelessness, the timeliness and the universality of Aristotle’s work, which belongs not only to Greece, but to the whole world, as well. It is our belief that a re-reading of the Stageirite’s writings, can open the way for a deeper understanding of concepts, ideas and problems, that are of crucial importance today, and for their solution in the fields both of theory and of praxis.
