On Thursday, July 25, 2019a scientific meeting was held at the KEDEA Building of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the renowned economist Jeffrey D. Sachs. Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs presented his proposal for an economic model based on the principles of Aristotle’s ethics; then followed a discussion and an exchange of views and suggestions.
On Thursday May 16, 2019, a Press Conference was held at the Senate Hall o A.U.Th. for the presentation of the business plan for the foundation of the “International Cultural Center of Ancient Stageira: Aristotle.” The aim of this Centre is to study and promote on an international level the work of the Macedonian philosopher Aristotle, as well as to promote the Municipality’s characteristic advantages, which are connected with the local history, archaeology, natural environment and touristic attractions.
On February 15, 2019, Demetra Sfendoni –Mentzou, Professor Emerita of Philosophy of Science and President of the “Interdisciplinary Center for Aristotle Studies,” of A.U.TH., gave a lecture at the Sala Napoleonica of the Neo-Classical Palazzo Greppi (18th Century) of the Università degli Studi di Milano.
On the 29thof January, 2019, a group of fifteen members of the University of Beijing visited the “Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies” (DI.K.A.M.) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The members of the group were Professor of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Wu Tianyue, Professor of Taoism, Wang Zongyu, Professor of Philosophy of Science, Ji Jianzhong, and doctor of Intellectual History, Hui Hui, as well as eleven students of the Lifelong Learning Program of the University of Beijing.
